Ho Chi Minh City Resources

The apartment hunt is still in full swing (although we’re currently very comfortable at the Red Lion Space), so I have yet to sink my teeth into Ho Chi Minh City. Here are a few resources that have so far whet my appetite.

Daniel Gross took his Moneybox column to Vietnam in December and turned out an excellent four-article series. Included are a very readable assessment of Vietnam’s economic bubble, an analysis of fiscal growing pains illustrated by garment factory visit, and a justification for why South East Asia’s airports kicks our airports’ collective ass. Oh yeah, Gross also covers Vietnamese China bashing.

Further proof of HCMC’s allure is evident in the new expat magazine The Word, which has taught me how to buy shirts in Vietnam. Thanh Nien, the paper produced by the Vietnam National Youth Federation, has so far been reliable.
